When entering new surroundings or meeting new people we
enter a phase of inquiry. When that happens we ask questions, we investigate;
we become determined to familiarize ourselves. That is what inquiry is. It’s a search
for knowledge. Coming to college is nerve wreaking to some because they are
leaving their comfort zone and leaving everything they know to come to a new
place. For the people who want to dorm they have to adapt to living with a
someone they barley know.
This word relates to class in the sense that we are in
college, no more high school. There are going to be changes in the classroom because
we now need to think and behave like college students. We are going to be
exposed to different type of work and we are going to be asked to do different
things with assignments. Our minds want to learn more and that exactly what we
should do.
Don't be scared, instead learn what you can do to succeed this year.
2 new vocabulary words I came across in my history book
while reading the first chapter:
Allotted: to divide or distribute by share or portion.
Surmount: to prevail over, to be on top or above.
