Perspective: a point
of view
You might be wondering what Interdisciplinary Perspective is
when put into context. One way to think about is that it consists of the same
content or context but has two different areas of study. In a sense, it’s
looking at the same thing just from different perspectives. It’s about making
connections, having a deeper comprehension of material, and seeing things from
various points of views.
Anything you do in life requires you to make connections
between things. You could make connections between ideas, theories, movies,
novels, people, anything! Making
personal connections is important because it allows you to be more interested
in any situation. If you lose interest in something, you wont have a strong
desire to continue working on it, or complete it. So, keeping that connection
and interest is very important.
Our lives we have been given the resources, materials, and
skills to comprehend things on our own. The ultimate goal is to be able to
comprehend things on our own, and take that thinking to a whole new level. That
is why I think that the most interesting people are the one that take curiosity
and build upon it. Understanding things is key to everything. It is the reason
why our brains are able to have a conversation, or interpret artwork because we
have basic understandings. Having basic understanding is excellent, but to go
the extra mile, the understanding must go further than what is just asked of
you.
Seeing things from different points of view is important
because it opens you up to different emotions, thoughts, and expressions. Doing
so isn’t always clean and cut, some people may voice their opinions stronger than
others because of who they are. Before standing your ground, I think that it is
important for someone to get the all sides of the story before making a
judgment. Once you have seen and heard the opinions and thoughts of others than
it is safe to either stick with your opinion or change it.
Interdisciplinary classes open you up to a world full of mysteries
and questions. Curiosity can be the push to get you to think interesting
questions, and maybe one-day expose you to answer to those questions. Again, it
all lies within you! Are you willing to put in more work and effort to defy the
world?
